Domaine Gondard-Perrin

The Estate

Domaine Gondard-Perrin’s 10-hectare holding was established in 2008. On 1 May 2015, they were joined by their “young wine-grower” son, Franz-Ludwig. They use integrated pest control methods in the vineyards, which are partially grassed. Gradual tilling of the soil is practiced to bring out the traits that makes the terroir special and preserves it from erosion.

Domaine Gondard-Perrin produces a white AOC Viré-Clessé, available in several cuvées, as well as a Crémant de Bourgogne, a Rosé de Gamay and a late-harvest cuvée. The estate was created with the aim of developing and perfecting their work at all stages from vineyard to finished wine, and bringing out the characteristic traits of the terroirs.

Climat

This is a relatively new domaine, having been created in 2008. The Gondard familly have been ensconced in the Mâconnais village of Viré for centuries and have been vine growers since 1981. Until 2007 they were selling their grapes to the local co-op buy came to realize that their parcels of vines produced grapes of such good quality that they deserved to be vinified separately and so created their own domaine and started to vinify and bottle the wines themselves. The wine show the typical richness of mâconnais wines but also a surprising level of elegance and minerality.
