Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini

Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini represents the harmonious union of two regions and two winemaking traditions: Burgundy and Champagne. In 2012, Florence Heresztyn, from a winemaking family in Gevrey-Chambertin, and her husband Simon Mazzini, a native of Champagne, launched their own adventure. After working for ten years on Florence’s family estate, they decided to establish Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini, which now spans 5.5 hectares across prestigious appellations in Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis, and Chambolle-Musigny.

Their philosophy is centered around organic and biodynamic farming. After earning organic certification in 2014, the estate began incorporating biodynamic practices by 2015. The couple is committed to working closely with the land, respecting its natural rhythms and minimizing intervention, both in the vineyard and the cellar. Their biodynamic approach is reflected in everything from using natural pest control to timing their winemaking processes according to the lunar calendar.

The domaine’s vineyards are located in some of Burgundy’s most renowned climats, producing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines of great complexity and finesse. Among their top wines are Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru Les Goulots, Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru Les Millandes, and the coveted Clos-Saint-Denis Grand Cru.

These wines, characterized by their elegance and purity, reflect the terroir of the Côte de Nuits, an area Florence and Simon hold dear.

Florence and Simon’s vision is modern and dynamic, emphasizing Burgundy’s rich heritage while crafting wines that resonate with today’s tastes. They are guided by their deep connection to the land and a passion for producing wines that faithfully express the unique character of each vintage and vineyard.

Expertise

Driven by the desire to work naturally, they converted their vineyard to organic farming, achieving certification in 2019. They regularly apply biodynamic principles and do not hesitate to use phytotherapy, treating their vines with plants.
