Julienas Vieilles Vignes Domaine Matray

GEOGRAPHIC SITUATION AND SOIL CHARACTERISTICS: Juliénas and Jullié, Lieu-Dit “Les Paquelets”. Soils: foothills and ancient alluvial deposits.
SURFACE AREA: 1.5 hectares
ORIGIN: Juliénas produces one of the ten most renowned crus of Beaujolais. The vine has been cultivated here since the time of Julius Caesar. Facing south and southeast, the vineyard benefits from very favorable exposure. The appellation area spans 600 hectares.
VINIFICATION: The harvest is done manually. The semi-carbonic maceration of Beaujolais is carried out with whole bunches. The harvest comes from old vines (75 years and older). Pressing occurs after a 12-day maceration. The malolactic fermentation as well as the ageing take place in barrels (215-liter barrels) for 10 months.
